Appeals Court Overturns Injunction On Abortion Law
06/27/2008 A federal appeals court has overturned a lower court order that had blocked enforcement of a South Dakota law that would require doctors to tell women seeking abortions that the procedure ends a human life.
The split decision by the 8th U.S. Court of Appeals U.S. sends the case back to U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier of Rapid City for further proceedings. Schreier had temporarily prevented the law from taking effect while she decides whether it is constitutional.
She ruled it might violate the free-speech rights of doctors.
